As I was removing my nail polish with my amazingggg Karma Naturals polish remover, I had this spark of inspiration to do a D&S post for cotton facial rounds! It’s something I don’t normally think about, but is a critical aspect in a toxin-free journey.

Soft, facial rounds are definitely a staple because they’re so multi-functional!

From nail care, using with a toner or essence, Micellar water, even kids craft projects! (they’re great for painting, and veryyy messy haha )

There are two main concerns with traditional disposable cotton rounds – Environmental waist and crazy contamination concerns

Cotton, while a natural substance, is known for massive pesticide contamination. While it is only grown on 2.5% of the world’s agricultural land, it uses 16% of all insecticides used and 6% of herbicides worldwide.

It makes me sick to think about putting pesticides on our face and skin.

That completely takes away from all of the nourishing ingredients in our skincare products and does further damage to our skin, hormone levels, kidneys, liver, you name it.

Not to mention a few of the other common hitters in conventional facial rounds…

Fragrance
Synthetic Materials
Parabens

If we use 2 cotton rounds on average per day, that’s 730 a year sitting in a landfill. 7,300 every 10 years. 36,500 over 50 years.
